Surry Hills is a foodie mecca, with some of Sydney’s top restaurants sharing the 2010 postcode. Located on Reservoir Street, alongside other local haunts Single O and Bad Hombres is BangBang Café, known for its B’s – breakfast, brew, booze, beats and some of the best burgers in Sydney.
Burgers are at the heart of the BangBang menu. There’s the All Star Burger, which you can build, from single to double, triple, quad and even quin wagyu patties served with cheddar, lettuce, tomato and a top secret BangBang sauce, while The Chainsmoker is topped with smoked pastrami, bacon, cheddar, crispy jalapenos and a smoked hickory BBQ sauce. There’s also a revolving Burger of the Week, which have included cult-worthy combinations such as the Duck Attack and Shroom Loving.
Arrive early and the kitchen will be dishing out Aussie breakfast classics including The Fritters, Eggs Benny or a Healthy Bircher Muesli, though it’s BangBang’s pancakes that garner the most attention, a buttermilk stack with caramelised banana, mixed berries, meringue, crushed pistachios and butterscotch syrup. You’ll also find BangBang’s extensive sandwich and salad offering including the BRAT (bacon, rocket, avocado, tomato), Oh Haloumi, Lamb Wrap, Chop Salad and Poke Bowl.
Beats take the form of 70’s classics, while brews are provided by Bassett Espresso. BangBang Café features Paul’s Blend as well as the option of filter coffee, or a weekly rotating Single Provenance, best enjoyed as an espresso or long black. Each Single Provenance coffee is sourced from around the world, and will have distinct terroir and taste characteristics.
With new brews and burgers every week, next time you’re in Surry Hills pay a visit to BangBang Café. Drop in for a burger and finish with a caffeine fix, or if you’re in time for brunch – complete the experience with a fresh brew.
